OVERKILL Announce Producer For Forthcoming CD
September 18, 2002OVERKILL have enlisted veteran British metal producer Colin Richardson to produce the group's next studio album, tentatively due in early 2003 through Spitfire Records.
"We've used Colin in a mix capacity in the past... [but this is the] first time, in a long time, that we're in this position [where we can have the album recorded and mixed by the same person]," singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth stated via the group's official web site. "I personally am looking forward to this... Gives more concentration on performance, not split between two things.
"Stating to roll tape on 10/1...so regardless of other delays...things continue to move..like a bulldozer through bones!
"The cuts for this one are a good combination of where we've been and where we're going. Dave has been instrumental in giving almost all the cuts a great feel, with his interpretation and added parts. To go into any more depth would be wrong. It seems I never truly know what's going to happen until it does.
But always an exciting time for me...always feels like the big game, a true RUSH!"
In the same posting, the singer offered an explanation for the delays in the release of the band's much-anticipated DVD, entitled Wrecking Everything – Live, due on November 19th via the Spitfire label.
"To control something completely, is only possible when there are two entities," Blitz stated. "In the case of our impending release, there are different variables...different people to work with, or not work with. My point, we had to restart the process of
editing late last month. Based solely on the results of the first edits and time passed. It's never been like us to just 'throw it out there,' and that applies in this case also. DD and I spent [this past] Monday with the new company in charge of editing and they're roaring...getting the results we need, want. This is not an excuse, don't particularly believe in them, but the reason, for the delay. At this time it should be on the shelves by 11/19."
